“There are no longer simple tales with quests and beasts and happy endings. The quests lack clarity of goal or path. The beasts take different forms and are difficulty to recognize for what they are. And there are never really endings, happy or otherwise. Things keep overlapping and blur, your story is part of your sister’s story is part of many other stories, and there in no telling where any of them may lead. Good and evil are a great deal more complex than a princess and a dragon, or a wolf and a scarlet-clad little girl. And is not the dragon the hero of his own story? Is not the wolf simply acting as a wolf should act? Though perhaps it is a singular wolf who goes to such lengths as to dress as a grandmother to toy with its prey.”

Finished reading The Night Circus. I was really enjoying the characters and beautiful imagery, but about halfway through there were hints that I wasn’t going to enjoy the ending and I mostly didn’t. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but this was just a bit too melodramatic in the romance department for me. It was a creative and engaging read, but I feel like I was duped into a paranormal romance.
One down, forty-nine to go.

GoodReads has cute little widgets that you can add to your page for the 50 Book Challenge. I really like how easy these are to add to your page.
I’m already 1/5th of the way through The Night Circus. If I make the commitment to read at least an hour a day, I should be able to stay on track/ahead of schedule without any problems.
