Just raised my voice to a coworker who is about twice my age (we think…no one seems to know how old he is). He didn’t cry, but he started shaking and stuttering. I feel like I just shamed a puppy.

On that note, I think it’s the perfect time to leave for the day. Off to get my nails done, get in a zen state so I can knock this law paper out of the park.

On the verge of crying at work. Trying to keep it together by choking down my rage tears with some Mike & Ikes, and listening to Ludacris’ “Screwed Up”.

And meetings #2 and #3 are done with as well. Phew.

Got some interesting news today. I’m going to be handling ebooks for one of my accounts as well. It doesn’t make sense for P & E to be sold and handled as separate accounts but I’m hesitant to get excited because I’m still doing all of my old job as they haven’t hired a replacement.

Also on a totally unrelated note. One of our editors is leaving to go to an imprint that is going to be part of the Random/Penguin merger. Since they haven’t officially announced how they are handling the layoffs (heard a rumor that personnel is going to be the same split as the finances 53 RH/47 Penguin) I just don’t know if I’d be transferring in before the merger happened in case I’m jobless by October.

Big meeting #1 is done with. Had to do a lot of talking, but it went well.

Hopefully this will help our relationship with the client, and we’ll all be much happier. At least I’m good friends with the in-house person that I’ll be working closer with to make this client happy.

I don’t know what it’s like to work in an industry for 20+ years. I don’t know what it’s really like to do a job without email and systems to aid and/or complicate my job.

But I’d like to think that regardless of my age, I would learn to embrace the new especially when it’s clear that it’s becoming “the way” for my industry.

Analysis is important. Getting estimates and comps right, is important. Filling out your title information so they can get into a data feed, CRITICAL.

“You look tired.”

I think that phrase needs to be stricken from work place dialogue. No one needs to be told that they look tired, unless it is followed up with, “So why don’t you call it a day and go take a nap.”

Whoo. Just finished a massively massive sales kit. I can almost see my desk again now that all the paper is off it and into binders.

WAHAHAHA. Finally had the chance to throw a paperclip at my cubemate while his headphones were in to get his attention.

He now understands how obnoxious it is to be hit with a paperclip in the side of your head. Hopefully this will be the end of paperclip toss, and that I didn’t actually make things worse.

Tehe. Had our team meeting today, I told our Amazon rep that I’m gunning after a title with my accounts that he is just burning through copies online.

Nothing like a little friendly competition between team members.

**everyone psychically know what title I’m talking about and tell your favorite indie to purchase it from my wholesalers so you can read it** ; -)

I really need to work from home once a week. I feel way less stressed, even though I’m cranking through more work, and while my reports are “thinking” I tidy up the house. It’s a win-win.

Plus, I have the windows open, and it is just really nice to hear my neighborhood. The breeze, the trees rustling, birds chirping…the smell of Brooklyn is ehhh. But you can’t have everything.
