I think my talk went well this afternoon. I feel like describing my job is so difficult to people who haven’t worked in publishing yet, and even to those who do because analytics is really a newer field in the book publishing world.
I did my best in trying to make the business end of publishing sound interesting. It’s just so hard to make reports and analysis sound like fun, especially when the group was completely unfamiliar with SAP and Excel. But I feel like if I made one person interested in marketing or analytics, then I’ll be a happy camper.
