Day 18 - Who is the antagonist in your novel? What drives their actions?
I feel like the antagonist of the novel is the concept of motherhood, maternal instincts and familiar love. The grown children have in their minds the way that Abigail could have been a better mother, or what stood out in their minds as her being a great mom. Walter (husband) feels that Abigail failed him as a wife, and he failed her as a husband, but their desire to remain a family is what kept them together for nearly 30 years.
Abigail’s imposed concept of what a family should and should not be is one of the problems that has been slowly chipping away at her family.
