Finished “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” by Mindy Kaling yesterday. It was a very quick read, and fairly enjoyable but I didn’t really like it. While I find Mindy funny, I just didn’t really get a lot of value from reading this. When I read memoir-esque books I expect to either be wildly entertained (like Chris Gethard’s or Sloane Crosley’s) or I want some good advice (like Chris Hardwick’s). This book just felt like a well organized journal entry. I especially disliked the chapter where she had pictures of herself from her cell phone and then described them.
I’d give this a C-, I truly believe this book would never have been published if Mindy wasn’t a B/C+ level celebrity.
