I feel the same way. I wish I could tell her “I got it, Madison!” lol. I love Palahniuk’s books in general. Have you ever read Pygmy?
I started “Pygmy” but I just couldn’t get into it.
I’ve only finished ”Choke”, “Snuff”, and “Invisible...

How are you liking Damned? I’m also reading it!
I find Madison constantly reassuring the reader that even though she’s only 13 that she’s not an idiot rather annoying. But I’m really enjoying the hell that Palahniuk built, and for the most part I’m enjoying the story and...

Modern Library's Top 100 Books
nyrbclassics:
These lists have been floating around for a while, but we still enjoy looking through them and getting in virulent literary arguments that don’t go anywhere. And you can too! We have one book in each of the Modern Library’s lists: Richard Hughes’s A High Wind in Jamaica (#71) in the 100 Best Novels, and Lionel Trilling’s The Liberal Imagination (#56) in 100 Best Nonfiction books....

The station in our new neighborhood doesn’t give out the free Metro papers in the morning, which I’m a little disappointed about since I really enjoyed getting a little local news in the morning. But now I’m reading my books on the train in the morning as well as my ride home, so with just the rides yesterday and this morning, I’m already 40% through with Damned. Yeah for extra train reading time!
When you finish a really good book series.

First post from the new apartment! The move went well, but next time (whenever that may be) we are hiring movers. I am completely covered in bruises and tiny scrapes.
Happy Memorial Day to those in the States.

It’s officially moving day. Jackie Brown knows what’s up because she has been hiding and I cannot find her. I tried to explain to her that we are taking her with us but I’m not quite sure she understood.
It’s like a ghost town today at work. It’s about to be a long weekend, and no one is in the mood to work. They should have just started summer Fridays this week since no one wants to be here anyway.

I haven’t heard of the majority of the book on the list. I added “The Storytelling Animal”, “The Healing”, and “Hit Lit” to my wish list.

This is the last Tumblr post I’ll be making from this computer in my current apartment. We’re packing up my desk tonight and that means this guy is getting turned off and unplugged.
Next time I’m on this computer I’ll be in living in Brooklyn as the Mister Softee’s truck passes by the window for the fifth time.

1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold - “I Knew a Woman” by Theodore Roethke
I knew a woman, lovely in her bones, When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them; Ah, when she moved, she moved more ways than one: The shapes a bright container can contain!
2. A Handful of Dust by Evelyn Waugh - The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot

I’m eating popcorn at my desk and I’ve come to realize that there really isn’t an attractive way to eat popcorn.
Since my new cube buddy has moved in I’ve started to second guess a lot of the stuff that I normally do since now there could be a witness.

I feel like a brand new person this morning. I have been extremely tired lately due to running around like a headless chicken trying to get ready for moving day, and work has been a bit stressful as well. I went home last night attempting to take a nap, I must have fallen asleep around 6:30 and I didn’t wake up until 8 this morning.
Growing up we were never allowed to sleep in as it was...

I’ve got a new cube buddy at work. We don’t have to share desks or anything, but now I have to be careful about what I’m looking at since he can easily see my monitor when he gets up from his desk. Total screen privacy was nice while it lasted.
I will definitely be using SafeDash at all times from now on at work. I’m not taking any chances at him rounding the corner and being like, “WTF are...

What?! I just found out there are summer versions of NaNoWriMo. Looks like they run in June and in August.
I’m really excited about this. The idea of participating in the June session makes my head spin a bit, but I feel like I’ll be ready to knock out 50K words in August.
Any one else thinking of doing Camp NaNoWriMo?

I’ve been really excited about working with people from our UK office on a few projects, mainly because I’m hoping that will eventually warrant a business trip so I can go to the UK, but I do find some things a little difficult.
Mainly the dates. I know that most of the world does DD.MM.YY but I find it extremely difficult to read the dates when I’m so used to seeing MM.DD.YY.

HMH Files for Bankruptcy →
Wow. This is never good to hear. I wonder how serious their restructuring is going to be, and exactly how many people are going to be laid off in the process.
I don’t totally understand how bankruptcy works especially for companies, but hopefully the friends that I have over at HMH are going to be okay.

It is pouring here in the city. Whenever it’s raining there is this strange thing that happens, people forget all common decency and act like rabid animals on the subway. I’m not sure why it happens, or what rain triggers in the minds of some people, but it gets pretty ridiculous.
After waiting for five trains before I could get on, I finally made it to work only 25 minutes late....

Sometimes I think the reason people feel that New Yorkers are rude is because when people who live here need to walk through Times Square it’s pretty difficult not to mow tourists and their children down while stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to take pictures.
That being said, thank you lady in front of me for slowing me down long enough to hear your child tell you that he...

So happy that the day is almost over. Going to see a play tonight with the Boo’s family but thankfully I’m going home first to nap a bit.
I think that there is a good chance that if I didn’t have anything to do tonight I would be able to sleep through until tomorrow.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday. Happy weekend!!
